About this frame

A slim, square 17mm profile — understated and endlessly versatile, in a deep, confident black in a smooth, closed-grain finish. It suits monochrome photography, bold typographic prints and anything you want to feel grounded and gallery-sharp. Each frame is cut, mitred and assembled to fit your print — handmade in the UK and shipped ready to hang.

Made to your size. Every frame is cut, joined and glazed to order, which is why we can't accept returns on made-to-measure frames. Please check your size before ordering.

Arrives perfect, or we remake it. Every frame travels in specialised picture frame packaging. If anything reaches you less than perfect, send us a photo within 48 hours of delivery and we'll remake it free.

Caring for it. Peel any protective film from the glazing, then clean with a soft, dry cloth. Don't use glass cleaner.

Choosing a frame for your A3 artwork

A3 measures 297 × 420 mm (29.7 × 42 cm). For an A3 photo, print or poster without a mount, choose an A3 frame. Measure the whole sheet, including any printed white border, rather than just the image area. The same size works in portrait or landscape orientation.

Your starting option is frame-only. An optional mount creates a border around smaller artwork: this A3 frame offers openings for A4 or A5. To keep A3 artwork and add a mount around it, choose a larger A2 frame with an A3 opening instead. Compare the options below.

An A3 frame fits A3 artwork without a mount. For a border around the same artwork, choose a larger A2 frame with an A3 mount opening. The larger frame and mount cost extra.

A3 is the artwork-size label. We cut the mount window slightly smaller so it overlaps the edges and helps prevent the artwork from falling through.

What size artwork fits an A3 frame?

An A3 frame holds a 297 × 420 mm sheet without a mount. Measure the full sheet, including any printed border. Turn the frame to suit portrait or landscape artwork.

Can I add a mount to an A3 frame?

Yes, as an optional extra. The A3 frame has mount options for A4 or A5 artwork. If your artwork itself is A3 and you want a mount around it, choose an A2 frame with an A3 opening. A mount is not included with the starting frame-only option.

Are the frames real wood?

Yes. Our wood mouldings are solid wood with closed-grain, open-grain or bobbin finishes, handmade in the UK. Metal mouldings are real aluminium.

How long does delivery take?

Each frame is cut and assembled to order. Dispatched in 2–5 working days.

Is 297 × 420 mm the outside size of the frame?

No. It is the size of the artwork the A3 frame holds. The moulding extends beyond that, so the overall outside dimensions depend on the profile you choose. Allow for the frame border when measuring your wall space.

Why is the mount opening cut slightly smaller than the artwork size?

The displayed opening label refers to the artwork size. We cut the window slightly smaller so the mount overlaps the edges and helps prevent the artwork from falling through. Keep signatures and important details away from the very edge of the sheet.
