Wood picture frames, made to your size.

Our wood picture frames are cut from solid timber moulding — open-grain and closed-grain finishes in black, white, oak, walnut, blue, green and more. Each frame is mitred and assembled to order in our UK workshop, ready to hang behind cast-acrylic glazing.

Why solid wood frames.

Real wood mouldings carry visible grain, texture and warmth that printed or veneered alternatives can't match. Wood frames soften the edge between print and wall, which is exactly what you want for portraits, illustration, family photography and anything where the frame should feel handmade rather than industrial.

Profiles and finishes.

Browse slim 17mm × 17mm mouldings, mid-weight 20mm × 32mm profiles and decorative bobbin frames. Open-grain finishes leave the wood texture visible; closed-grain finishes give a smoother, painted look. All profiles are available in our 19 standard print sizes from A4 up to A1.

FAQ

Common questions,
honest answers.

What wood do you use?

Solid hardwood mouldings — typically ayous, oak, ash or similar straight-grained timbers depending on the finish. Every frame is cut from real wood, not veneered MDF.

What sizes do your wood frames come in?

Made to measure. Pick from 19 standard sizes (A4, A3, A2, A1, 30×40cm, 40×50cm, 50×50cm and more) — every frame is cut and assembled to order.

Open grain vs closed grain — what's the difference?

Open-grain finishes leave the natural wood texture visible through the colour. Closed-grain finishes give a smoother, more painted look. Both are real wood — it's a finish choice, not a material one.

Can I order an empty wood frame?

Yes — pick the frame only option on any wood frame product page and we'll send the frame on its own.

Are wood frames heavier than metal?

Yes — solid wood mouldings weigh roughly twice as much as a comparable aluminium frame. Most wood frames still hang on a single screw into stud or a decent plasterboard hook, but for large A1 wood frames consider proper fixings.
