Float mounting is a way of presenting a print so it appears to float inside the frame. Instead of a board sitting over the edges of the paper, the print is raised on hidden spacers above the backing — leaving a shadow gap all the way around and every edge of the sheet visible.

A mount board covers the outer few millimetres of the paper and gives a crisp, formal window, which suits certificates and photographs. A float mount shows the whole sheet including any deckled or torn edge, and suits fine-art prints, watercolours and hand-made papers.

Choose 10mm, 20mm or 30mm on each side; 20mm is the default. The frame grows by twice the gap you pick, so a wider float means a larger frame — the price updates as you choose.
